Air Classifier Mill Boosts Fine Processing of Pyrolysis Carbon Black in Middle East

In the carbon black industry, Pyrolysis Carbon Black (PCB) — a key product from waste tire recycling — is gaining wide attention. It offers low cost and environmental benefits. PCB is used in rubber, plastics, and coatings. However, pyrolysis carbon black often has coarse particles and a loose structure. It also contains impurities and disperses poorly. These problems limit its use in high-end applications. To solve this, a Middle Eastern recycling company worked with Epik Toz. Project Background

The Middle Eastern client focuses on tire pyrolysis and carbon black recovery. Their annual output is around 15,000 tons. The product is mainly used in rubber and plastic masterbatch production. However, downstream customers need finer and purer products. They require D50 ≤ 5 μm and purity ≥ 99%. The client’s old milling system could not meet these demands.

Main problems included:

  • Wide particle size distribution and unstable product quality.
  • High impurity content that affected rubber mixing performance.
  • High energy use and serious dust pollution.

The client aimed to upgrade their technology. They wanted stable particle size control, high purity production, and lower energy consumption. The goal was to improve product value and competitiveness.

Epik Toz Air Classifier Mill Solution

Pyrolysis carbon black is lightweight, cohesive, and conductive. Based on these features, Epic Powder designed a closed-loop Air Classifier Mill production line. The system includes:

  • Main Air Classifier Mill: It combines grinding and classification. The high-speed rotor and adjustable classifier wheel ensure accurate particle size control.
  • Efficient Dust Collection System: It runs under negative pressure. This prevents dust leakage and keeps production clean.
  • Automated Control System: It monitors air volume, temperature, and classifier speed in real time. This keeps product size and output stable.
