Un molino clasificador de aire ayuda a un cliente tailandés a lograr una molienda eficiente de cáscara de coco.

Customer Name: A Biomass Deep Processing Enterprise in Thailand.
Material: Coconut shells (after preliminary carbonization or drying).
Objective: The project focuses on coconut shell grinding to process coconut shells or their carbonized forms into ultrafine powder. This fine material is used for producing high-quality activated carbon and biomass fuel additives, effectively enhancing product performance and overall market value.

Challenges and Equipment Selection

Coconut shells and their carbonized products are fibrous, lightweight, and hard. The final product requires a highly uniform particle size (typically 100 to 325 mesh or finer). Traditional mechanical mills often struggle to balance fine particle size control with energy efficiency and production capacity.

Solution: EPIC Powder recommended an integrated air classifier mill system featuring high-efficiency classification—such as a turbine-type classifying impact mill or an air classifier mill equipped with a precision classifier wheel.

Main Equipment: High-efficiency air classifying mill system.

Implementation and Results

The system operates based on high-speed impact and shearing principles, combined with a dynamic classifier wheel, achieving the following key results:

  • Precise Particle Size Control:
The classifier wheel accurately separates qualified fine powder while returning coarse particles for regrinding. This ensures that the coconut shell powder’s particle size distribution (D97) meets the Thai customer’s high standards. It effectively solves the uneven sieving problem common with fibrous materials.
  • High Efficiency and Low Energy Consumption:
Compared with traditional ball mills or older mechanical grinders, the air classifier mill uses less energy per unit of output. It significantly improves production efficiency and overall cost-effectiveness.
  • Enhanced Product Value:
The ultrafine coconut shell or carbon powder has a larger specific surface area. This greatly improves adsorption performance during subsequent activated carbon production. This allowed the Thai customer to successfully enter the high-standard international market.
