Client Background
Sulfur is a critical raw material in global chemical supply chains. It is widely used in pesticides, rubber tires, gunpowder, and fine chemicals. The client, a prestigious large chemical enterprise in Jordan, aimed to expand its export capacity for high-quality sulfur powder.
Sulfur Ultrafine grinding is highly dangerous. Sulfur has a low ignition point of about 190°C. Friction heat, static electricity, or mechanical sparks can easily trigger dust explosions. The client urgently needed a pulverizing system with absolute safety protection and massive industrial output. After comparing top international brands, they chose the full explosion-proof production line with the Epic Powder Air Classifier Mill (ACM).
Challenges Faced
During the early stages of the project, the client primarily faced several technical bottlenecks:
- High Dust Explosion Risk: Sulfur dust explodes very easily. The equipment must have reliable explosion-proof, flameproof, and inert gas protection mechanisms.
- Strict Temperature Control: Sulfur softens or melts easily at around 112°C. The system must strictly control the grinding temperature to prevent material sticking and clogging.
- Large Capacity with High Uniformity: The client demanded a high output of 12 T/h per line. The final fineness had to be stable at 320-325 mesh. This posed a huge challenge to continuous stable operation.

To address the special material properties of sulfur, Epic Powder customized the Air Classifier Mill (ACM) production line. We integrated a nitrogen protection system and a full explosion-proof design.

Technical Highlights:
- Closed-Loop Nitrogen Cycle: The entire system runs in a sealed state. High-purity nitrogen (N2) replaces oxygen. This keeps the oxygen concentration below the safe limit and prevents explosions.
- Extreme Temperature Control: The ACM host features a precise water jacket. Combined with the air cooling system, it keeps the grinding chamber temperature far below the melting point of sulfur.
Results Achieved
After the production line went into operation at the Jordanian plant, the client praised its safety and high capacity:
- Zero Accidents with High Stability: The intelligent oxygen monitoring and anti-spark design passed long-term industrial tests. The equipment has operated with zero safety accidents so far.
- Massive Capacity for Sulfur Ultrafine Grinding: The system achieved a huge output of 12 tons/hour per line. This greatly improved the client’s order delivery capability and market share.
- Perfect Particle Size Control: The final fineness was precisely controlled at 320-325 mesh. The particle size distribution was extremely narrow. Downstream customers praised the product’s excellent dispersion.
