Industries such as pharmaceuticals, food additives, water treatment, and chemical manufacturing widely use buffer salt to stabilize solution pH. These applications require strict control of purity, particle size distribution, and flowability. Traditional mechanical grinding methods often fail to meet such precision and cleanliness requirements.

A chemical enterprise in Malaysia, specializing in pharmaceutical intermediates and food-grade additives, planned to build a high-purity buffer salt ultrafine powder production line. The target product fineness was D97 ≤ 10 μm, with narrow particle size distribution and contamination-free operation.
After evaluating several suppliers, the customer chose EPIC Powder as its technology partner and adopted our air classifier mill system to achieve high-efficiency, clean, and stable production of buffer salt powder.
Key Project Requirements
- High purity and contamination-free production – buffer salt is sensitive to metallic ions such as Fe and Cr.
- Accurate particle size control – adjustable fineness between 3–10 μm with narrow distribution.
- Low-temperature grinding – to prevent agglomeration, moisture absorption, or crystal structure changes.
- Continuous operation – automatic feeding, grinding, classifying, and collection for efficient production.
EPIC Powder Solution
Based on the material characteristics and process requirements, EPIC Powder provided a customized air classifier mill system for buffer salt ultrafine powder, which included:
- Main equipment: Air classifier mill combining impact grinding and dynamic air classification in one unit.
- Precision classification system: Variable-frequency control of the high-speed classifier wheel to ensure adjustable and stable particle size.
- Anti-contamination design: All parts in contact with the product are made of ceramic or polyurethane to prevent metal pollution.
- Moisture and temperature control: Closed-loop airflow and cooling system to maintain product stability.
- Automation: PLC control system enabling real-time monitoring and parameter adjustment for consistent operation.
Implementation & Results
After three months of installation and commissioning, the production line was successfully put into operation.
